- Woe to the land of buzzing wings beyond the rivers of Cush,
災いだ、クシュの川の向こうにある羽音を立てている地よ。 - which sends emissaries by sea, in swift craft across the water! They say, Go speedily, you messengers! Go to a people perpetually on the move, a nation dreaded far and wide, a people continually infringing, whose rivers have annexed their lands.
この国は水の向こうへ渡る速い船で、海路を経て使者を遣わす。彼らは言う。「素早く行け、使者たちよ。」絶え間なく動き回る民のもとへ、あまねく恐れられている国へ、絶えず侵略し続ける民のもとへ。その民の地は幾筋もの川でつながっている。 - All you who live in the world, you inhabitants of the earth, look to the ensign when it is lifted up in the mountains; heed the trumpet when sounded!
世に住むすべての人々よ、地に住むすべての者たちよ、山々に旗が掲げられるときには、それを見よ。ラッパが吹き鳴らされるときには、心に留めよ。 - For thus said Jehovah to me: I will watch in silence over my dwelling place when the searing heat overtakes the reapers,a and when the rainclouds appear amid the fever of reaping.

それは刈り入れの前、すなわち花が咲き終わり、花の房が若い実になりつつあるとき、彼らは実を結ぶ小枝を鎌で切り落とし、新しい枝を切って容赦なく取り除くからである。 - All shall be left to the birds of prey of the mountains and to the beasts of the land: the birds of prey will feed on them all summer and the beasts of the land all winter.
それらはすべて、山の猛禽と地の獣に与えられる。猛禽はそれを餌として夏を過ごし、地の獣はそれを餌として冬を越す。 - At that time shall tribute be brought to Jehovah of Hosts from a nation perpetually on the move, from a nation dreaded far and wide, a people continually infringing, whose rivers have annexed their lands, to the place of the name of Jehovah of Hosts: Mount Zion.
